Ceridwen Brown is a graduate of the University of the Arts London's BA(Hons) degree in Technical Effects for Performance. Her work to date includes mask-making, prosthetics and animation for organisations including the Tax Deductible Theatre Company at Secret Garden Party, on the forthcoming Fantastic Mr Fox film, and the stage production of The Lion King. You can see some examples of her work under 'pictures' at her myspace, and some animated shorts on her youtube channel.

Ceridwen is an awfully young woman and the collaboration she is undertaking with Wes White for Two Heads is still in progress. But she's going to be makinging a model or a mask inspired by some of the legendary birds described or mentioned in part four.

These are some of the pieces Wes has written about some of the birds. More to come.

Mother Goose

Her tongue black with letters
She feeds her tales to other birds
Like some birds feed their chicks:
Beak to beak, filling them up
With songs to use later, to
Exclaim to the air and have echo
Off cliff-faces and the backs of caves
(The earth’s own bellies).

The Loon of Glooskap

flies
with stories in him, under his wings
under his feathers, under his skin, his fat, muscles, bones,
in his gut
to the lake where the man-from-nothing waits,
the man to whom he howls those

stories
with fish in him, under his wings
under his feathers, under his skin, his fat, muscles, bones,
in his gut
then leaves for other distant lakes again
for years on end where he

fishes
with pebbles in him, under his wings
under his feathers, under his skin, his fat, muscles, bones,
in his gut.

The Ugly Duckling

Hhhhhhhhhhhhhiss

Seven Magpies

Seven sorrows, or
Two joys and a girl, or
A girl and a boy, or
A boy and a girl, or
Silver and joy, or
Gold and sorrow.
Something unknown.
